Letters: SC flood reminds us of transiency of life

gmelendez@thestate.com

Who would have imagined those beautiful houses would be afloat, the streets and freeways overflowing and the sleek cars submerged in the debris and caskets flowing alongside the waves and winds, while tears and sadness abound?

In the midst of this misfortune, residents of this state, our governor, friends, churches, civic organizations and city and local officials all over the nation have demonstrated enormous support far beyond anyone’s imagination. They all recognize that we are called to be our brother’s keeper.

All of this underscores the indisputable fact that there is a supreme power who is perfect and loving, and it should remind us that life and everything we hold precious are temporary.
