Letters: WIS treated Farley shabbily

Many people are shocked and saddened that John Farley’s contract as WIS chief meteorologist was not extended. We do not know the circumstances, but we cannot imagine why a premier, brilliant meteorologist was let go. He added so much to the weather scene and educated people concerning conditions. He elevated the weather broadcasts to a height not seen before in Columbia.

It is unfair that WIS lures talent to our area, then dumps them and negatively impacts their lives, as it has done to Mr. Farley and previously did to Ben Hoover. Mr. Farley will be sorely missed at WIS, but I will not miss WIS, since I do not plan to watch its news anymore. I am disgusted at its labor practices and wish Mr. Farley a fabulous future. Shame on WIS for depriving the public of such an excellent meteorologist.
