Monday letters: Floods increase need to raise gas tax

Now is the time for our legislators to step up to the plate and address the gas tax. We need to collect a tax comparable to our neighboring states. We need to allow drivers passing through our state to pay their fair share.

We already had a terrible infrastructure problem, and now with the floods, hundreds of roads and bridges are in worse shape than ever. Our roads are a hazard to our citizens. When are we going to address the obvious? It is time to go beyond political boundaries and do what is right.
