Letters: Health practices do more than abortions

AP

If women’s health practices are now “abortion clinics,” I have a few questions: Will my children’s pediatric dentistry practice now be called a “tooth pulling clinic” and supermarkets “potato chip stores,” with hospitals renamed “appendix clinics” and auto dealerships “underbody rust protection dealerships”?

The terminology plays a significant role in comprehending the news, and newspapers should strive to use precise terminology. While specific services may figure into the political motivations worthy of discussion, that does not justify a reductionist renaming of women’s health service providers down to a single procedure.
