Letters: Why allow cell phones on school grounds?

I don’t understand why cell phones are allowed in a teaching environment. This, combined with students who have total disregard for authority, is a recipe for what transpired at Spring Valley High School.

Students who don’t want to learn and who think no one should tell them anything don’t belong in a public school.
