Letters: Lott handled Spring Valley situation perfectly

Sheriff Leon Lott did not make any excuses for the behavior of his deputy at Spring Valley High School. He explained very clearly the role of law enforcement and fired the deputy for not following procedures.

Law enforcement was called after a rebellious, argumentative student disrupted her class and refused to leave the classroom so her fellow students could continue their education. Sheriff Lott’s comments were calm, matter of fact, transparent and healing.

It would behoove all responsible entities to get a copy of Sheriff Lott’s statement and replay it every hour. He absolutely nailed it.
