Monday letters: Teach children that love multiplies

When Shakespeare wrote “King Lear,” he was wrong to indicate that love is limited in quantity and divides. Love multiples with each relationship.

When parents divorce, they should realize that children will have new relationships with step-parents. Loving the step-parent creates a different relationship with it own emotional bonds. Children should be taught to love their parent and to love their step-parent too.

God does not limit love. The child will never have but one true Dad and one true Mother. If that child is taught to hate one parent, it is a great and unnecessary loss caused by a broken world. Please teach your children that love multiplies and never runs out.
