As a senior at Spring Valley High School I was in shock when I first saw the video, and I was against Deputy Ben Fields. The next day when I heard other students’ opinions, I changed my mind and stood up for him.

The student should have respected authority the first time she was asked to do something, and the video clearly shows her hitting the deputy. Yes, he could have handled it in a calmer manner, but he had a right to do what he needed to do.

My classmates and I are annoyed that this was turned turned into a race situation. Deputy Fields is not racist, and there is no reason race should even have been brought up. This does not reflect Spring Valley as a whole.
