Letters: Obama should set example on refugees
President Obama says we are not to refuse to welcome Middle East refugees into the United States because that is not who we are. That raises the question: “Who are we?”
We are told that we are not a Christian nation. The ones who say this remind us that Jesus said we should welcome the stranger, clothe the naked and feed the hungry. My Bible tells me that Jesus said this was the responsibility of the individual. He did not give that dictum to the governor or the emperor or the chief priest.
So I suggest the leader of this country set the example by ensconcing the first refugee widows and children in the White House and pay for it himself.
