Lexington School District 1 in its infinite wisdom decided to build a Taj Mahal high school on Corley Mill Road, knowing that the road had flooded three times before final approval was given. The Nov. 10 flooding shows critics were right to be concerned.

Most school district decisions are not reviewed, and the result has been bad decisions in many cases. Residents of this school district are seeing large increases in their property taxes because of these poor choices. Lexington 1 paid more to build River Bluff High School than it should have paid for two schools.

Adding it to the other four within a half mile of the intersection of Corley Mill Road and U.S. 378 has created a traffic nightmare. The road has become Hard Scrabble West.
