Letters: Risk too high to let in refugees
Whatever gave the American people and every wandering refugee the idea that refugees are entitled to come to America? Emma Lazurus’ sentimental “Give me your tired, your poor …” poem isn’t a law, a right or an entitlement. While our president is obsessed over a Gorean fiction of climate change, he’s too foolish to look out the window and notice that the violent political tornadoes called war blew away his little red line in the desert sands.
We are at war. ISIS declared it even if the president refuses to admit it. Wars always create refugees, and ISIS has driven nearly a million souls into the heart of Europe, seeding their ranks with terrorists, carrying fake documents.
So look at those 10,000 refugees Obama wants us to take in like a bowl of candy. If just one of the pieces in that bowl was poisonous, would you let your children eat anything from it?
