Letters: Nationality not the same as religion

The Dec. 20 letter “Trump critics should ‘shut the hell up’” suggested that Donald Trump’s proposal to bar Muslims from entering the United States was no different from President Carter’s actions during the Iran crisis.

The difference was that President Carter barred people from Iran, which is a country; he did not bar any religious group, which is what Mr. Trump advocates.

That letter should not have been published.
