Monday letters: Manos leaves giant shoes to fill
The report on the civic and business contributions of retired Springdale Town Councilman Gus Manos of necessity only scratched the surface (“Manos leaving Springdale Town Council after 42 years,” Dec. 26). He was truly one of those rare men who gave more, cared more and did so without expectation of return.
It is enough for the rest of us who benefited from his grace to remember the words of Cassius about Julius Caesar in the eponymous play by Shakespeare: “Why, man, he doth bestride the narrow world like a Colossus, and we petty men walk under his huge legs and peep about to find ourselves dishonorable graves.”
