Letters: Candidates aren’t engaging in real ‘debates’
Debate: a regulated, logical discussion of a proposition between two matched sides.
The performances by the political candidates at events described by the media as “debates” are not “debates.”
They are merely candidates’ sound bites foisted on the viewing public by the electronic media, particularly the cable news networks.
These “debates” enable the electronic media to constantly refill their 24/365 news rabbit holes with a constant barrage of endless political drivel, blather, babble and mumbo jumbo, with a dash of hogwash thrown in for good measure.
