Letters: GOP fueled by orchestrated ignorance
Propagandists know that perceptions often triumph over facts, especially if they’re properly spun, and the floodgates have been opened. A recent national poll revealed that 43 percent of Republicans believe that President Obama is a Muslim, despite the absence of any facts to back up that claim.
This didn’t just happen. It is the result of a nasty right-wing propaganda effort to convince Americans that Obama secretly hates America. The result of a successful propaganda campaign is orchestrated ignorance on a mass scale, which does not serve democracy.
