Letters: Trump’s sound and fury signify nothing

Donald Trump gave a stem-winder speech at the Myrtle Beach tea party convention. From start to finish, absolutely no substance was uttered. He talked about his high poll numbers and vast wealth and building a “big, beautiful, wall” named after himself. He praised the release of the 10 sailors captured by Iran, claiming responsibility for it. Donald Trump is a total egotist, clueless of what it takes to be president.

He said things we all talk about around our dining room table. But it was impossible to dig substance out of him. All I heard was his love of self and money and his desperate need for approval from the adoring masses.

I once thought I could vote for him. But after 75 minutes of blah, blah, blah totally about Donald Trump and nothing about what he was going to do to preserve, defend and protect my country and Constitution, I can’t do it.

I am supporting Ted Cruz, a conservative whose values I share. We need a man who stands firm on life, marriage and the Constitution that our founding fathers wrote for us and our men and women in uniform have fought and died for.
