Letters: Maybe we should regulate politicians

KRT

So one of our legislators wants to pass a law giving the state control of all the persons allowed to report the news and the media outlets’ right to choose their employees? A cursory review of world history will quickly reveal that state control of the media is one of the first steps toward despotism. In case it has slipped your mind, Google the name “Joseph Goebbels” and read the first few sentences.

My counter proposal would be a law “establishing minimal competence requirements for persons running for political office.”
