Letters: Is God seeking the deeply flawed again?
How did our presidential contenders list get to be such a mess? On one side we have an explosively loud rich man whose business model appears to be to borrow a pile of money and then declare bankruptcy when the payment comes due; another is so inept at making friends that no one on either side wants to lunch with him, let alone work with him. On the other side, we have one who is fixated on the accumulation of cash and will tell a lie even if the truth is more interesting, and an old hippie who can’t find his way home from Woodstock.
The Old Testament is full of examples of how God used terribly flawed people to accomplish great things. Consider Jacob refusing his brother food and cheating his brother out of an inheritance; he became the patriarch of Judah. And King David, who had an adulterous relationship with a solder’s wife and then sent the soldier into a battle in a way that he would die; David would ultimately fathered King Solomon.
So maybe there’s a plan working here.
At least I’m hoping for one.
