Letters: When is lack of diversity OK?

Bob Mays’ Jan. 31 letter, “Apply Academy Awards standards elsewhere,” should be a call for a sane discussion of diversity. If diversity is so desirable, then how is it even possible to have all-black athletic teams representing high schools and colleges (i.e. USC’s women’s basketball team) where blacks are a minority?

Moreover, does even posing this question subject me to being labeled by some as a racist?
