Letters: Gun opponents are fanatics

Sylvie Dessau’s Jan 25 letter, “S.C. should build on Obama gun orders,” is another example of a fanatic who knows nothing about the Constitution or who is truly causing gun violence.

Presidents can’t make laws, even by executive order; that’s according to the Constitution. Gun violence is caused by people with mental illness or thugs (regardless of race) who get guns by theft or black markets, not reasonable gun owners.

If members of Moms Demand Action want to be useful, they should go to a mental hospital and volunteer their time instead of trying to infringe on the Second Amendment.
