Monday letters: SCE&G shouldn’t be selling insurance
I recently received a letter from SCE&G Vice President Felicia Howard informing me that SCE&G would insure my home’s interior gas lines for $2.95 a month. Does this mean SCE&G is now licensed to sell insurance in South Carolina and will be changing its name to South Carolina Electric, Gas & Insurance?
On a more serious note, since SCE&G apparently has decided not to set up its insurance program as a separate subsidiary, it’s incumbent on the Public Service Commission to disallow any costs associated with this boondoggle to be charged to SCE&G’s non-participating natural gas customers.
