Letters: Richland County Council rejected offer for independent oversight
When Richland County’s transportation penny sales tax was being considered, I and several other businessmen volunteered to be on the oversight board. We wanted to be independent advisers not under the influence of politics and to protect the taxpayers’ money.
None of us was ever called for interviews. County Council members already had their chosen ones. Now we see the results of that favoritism.
The current program should be abandoned until a full investigation is completed, and County Council members involved should resign or be prosecuted.
