Letters: SC needs better roads; we need to pay for them

Is anyone else as disgusted with our state senators as I am? Everyone can see that our roads are unsafe. They are costing us millions in unnecessary auto repairs and hours of wasted time to get the repairs done. The longer we put off the repairs, the more they will cost.

Gas tax opponents foolishly believe that the budget surplus will be plenty enough to bring the roads up to acceptable standards. Are they that stupid, or do they think everyone in the state is so ignorant that we believe them?

While I like most of the governor’s policies, I disagree that we need a tax break. We already enjoy some of the lowest taxes in the nation. Also near the bottom in the nation: our roads and education system.
