Letters: Richland County misusing penny transportation tax

I am disgusted with Richland County. We were told when we voted for the penny sales tax that it would be used for transportation. It seems to have been used for everything but our roads and bridges, specifically a small business recruitment program and two public relations firms. Since when does this have anything to do with roads, bridges and trails?

Our roads are deteriorating to a point that they are unsafe. I have a brand-new vehicle, and already the hood needs repainting because of rock chips from driving up and down our roads. The state and county patch the roads, but that is just a Band-Aid because after a while, with the amount of traffic we have, the repair work disintegrates. It is time to use the penny sales tax for its intended use or repeal it.
