Monday letters: Why not change inmate release time?

As a Vista resident, I am perplexed by the problems associated with releasing prisoners from the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center. As I understand it, the major problems are that prisoners are released at a time when social service organizations in Columbia are closed, that they are dropped off in the middle of the night when drug dealers are waiting to greet them and that special expensive transportation arrangements must be made because the Comet buses are not running at the time of release.

Am I the only person who sees a simple solution to all three problems being to change the time of release to match up with the bus schedule?
