Monday letters: Don’t overlook traffic effect on Tucker Center
One of the things state transportation officials had hoped a traffic study report on the Bull Street complex would address is “how increased traffic might affect quick access by emergency vehicles to nearby Palmetto Richland and Palmetto Baptist hospitals” (“SC DOT to get long-awaited study on Bull Street traffic,” Feb 28).
I agree this is important. However, equally important is quick access by first responders to the C.M. Tucker Nursing Care Center on Harden Street (the east side of the Commons at BullStreet) that is home to some of our most valued residents — disabled veterans who valiantly served in wars helping to keep our country free.
With the increased traffic around the entirety of the site of the Commons at BullStreet, I strongly suggest that a traffic light be added at the entrance to the Tucker Nursing Care Center on Harden Street.
