Letters: We need strict constructionists on court

A memorial to the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia
A memorial to the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia AP

Following the death of Justice Antonin Scalia, a letter writer said other strict adherents of the Constitution need to change their thinking to keep up with “modern times.” I disagree.

Our Founding Fathers fashioned our Bill of Rights and Constitution after God’s Ten Commandments, and the United States became the most blessed, prosperous, powerful and respected nation on earth.

In “modern times,” we have turned our backs on God, removing him from schools and other public places and abandoning his laws. Modern thinking has given us abortion, contraception, cohabitation, same-sex marriage, assisted suicide, etc.

Our country will not recover unless we repent and return to the protection and love of the Lord.
