Letters: Republicans wrong on Supreme Court

Judge Merrick Garland is President Barack Obama’s choice to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the Supreme Court.

Senate Republicans justifiably criticized the president for not following the Constitution, yet they are now guilty of the same thing by refusing to consider his Supreme Court nominee.

Regardless of my opinion of President Obama, he is acting in a responsible manner by moving forward to fill a vacancy on the Supreme Court and has nominated one of the most worthy individuals for the position opened by Justice Scalia’s death.

We send our leaders to Washington trusting they will act in a responsible, rational manner. It makes those of us at home wonder what their motivation is. It looks like they are reacting to the big money pot in Washington or focusing on their own vendettas against Democrats’ acts of yesteryear.

I hope they hear the voice of the people and start behaving as responsible leaders, representing the best interest of our nation, rather than acting like children in a sandbox.
