Letters: So sad we no longer make things in US

ASSOCIATED PRESS

At a recent estate sale, I found an unopened box containing a stainless steel 12-cup automatic coffee percolator, the kind my parents used on Sunday mornings. I took my $7 treasure home and opened the box to expose a well-made appliance that was purchased at White’s department store for $37, maybe 30 or 40 years ago.

What hit me as I read the instruction pamphlet was that it was not made in China but in Industrial Airport, Kansas. So sad, those days are gone forever. We here in the United States don’t seem to make a thing, not even a coffee maker.
