Letters: Trumpenstein or Dracula?

Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump and Sen. Ted Cruz

I had to laugh at Charles Blow’s March 25 column, “What Trump’s rise tells us about ourselves,” in which he compared the GOP establishment to the victim in a slasher movie who doesn’t see the killer until he’s about to be stabbed. I’d like to extend this metaphor, however, to reflect the current situation:

What we now have is Republicans running through the woods fleeing from Trumpenstein by falling into the arms of Dracula-Cruz, where they’ll only be sucked dry of every vestige of reason and compassion. So this party has the choice of a loose-cannon fascist or a “Christian” dominionist who wants to turn America into a theocracy.

Talk about a lose-lose decision.
