Letters: Confederate flag should not be raised at SC State House
Every group has a right to assemble on the State House grounds. If secessionists want to assemble, they can carry the Confederate flag.
I understand Rep. Tommy Pope’s comparison to the Vietnam War and the dissension it caused in the United States. But I feel it is a slap in the face of all South Carolinians, after a battle last year to have the battle flag removed, for them to raise the flag on a 25-foot pole.
The Constitution allows people to assemble, but we don’t have to allow re-raising a controversial symbol at the State House.
