Letters: We should mourn our own holocaust

The State

The Holocaust occurred because the German people believed what their legal and medical experts espoused, which was based on the scientific and ethical thinking of the time, and was put into practice by the government. The concentration camps were fundamentally under the direction of Nazi doctors.

Our ongoing American holocaust — approved by jurists, under the direction of doctors, based on the science and ethics of our time, and supported by the American people and the government — has exterminated many more undesirables than the Nazis did.

I hope we will soon be remembering our holocaust with tears, even as we remember the Holocaust.
