Letters: Teachers are afraid to discipline students

AP

We have a discipline problem in schools because teachers have no way to discipline kids. The bad kids do what they want because they know there will be no retribution for disrupting the class.

They know that if the teacher or any adult does anything other than talk, it could end up in The State, and the teachers could end up losing their jobs.

The State and certain legislators work hard to give unruly kids a blank check to continue disruptive behavior. Teachers become increasingly more stressed, and the kids who want to learn become the victims.

Every story I read about discipline is about race and unfairly treating some kids. We need a story on how to support the teachers in getting discipline back in the schools. Can someone for once look at the big picture and give this story some balance?
