Letters: Legislators need to drive on I-77, then they’ll fix roads

S.C. drivers demand that legislators pass permanent, meaningful legislation to repair our deplorable roads.

I challenge every legislator to drive south on I-77 from I-20 to U.S. 321 and back. This interstate is in deplorable shape, with huge potholes and many large, eroded areas in the asphalt, making it life-threatening. Drivers who face three packed lanes of trucks and cars plus many access lanes also must negotiate around these deep potholes and eroded areas.

In the past, there was road construction everywhere. Now? There is nothing but road destruction. The people of South Carolina have been ignored and betrayed and robbed of the right to travel on safe roads. It is way past time for legislators to provide safe, well-repaired roads.
