Letters: EdVenture was a big disappointment
During spring break a few weeks ago, my husband and I took our granddaughter to EdVenture Children’s Museum. This could have been a wonderful experience if the exhibits had been maintained and in good working order; however, several of the main attractions were not working. Essential parts were missing, so our grandchild who had been before and knew how things were supposed to work could only recall her memories of how much fun it used to be.
Some areas needed a staff member to assist with a craft or to guide the children, but we saw no one except the very kind lady who took our $35 at the front desk. Some areas were closed or had signs posted apologizing for repairs in progress. Outside, our granddaughter did get to play in the water, changing directions of the current in the river to cause rapids.
EdVenture gets government funding, in addition to yearly membership dues and entrance fees. Where is the money going, and why is this facility not being maintained? We were very disappointed with our experience, and at the same time, we’re saddened to see how nice it could be for the children of South Carolina and surrounding areas.
