Letters: Alan Wilson let down office, state
Whether or not Attorney General Alan Wilson can legally fire Solicitor David Pascoe, Wilson has harmed South Carolina and his office by playing ugly politics with an investigation of corruption in the Legislature.
The news conference Wilson orchestrated was nauseating. With former attorneys general and American flags in the background, he ranted about how bad prosecutor Pascoe was, even though Wilson had selected him. Wilson said Pascoe was something like his sixth choice (how professional), and as I listened I couldn't understand why he felt Pascoe was “tainted” other than Pascoe not following Wilson's directions.
It seems like Wilson was acting improperly as our chief legal officer, by playing politics with an investigation, and that should be illegal.
