Letters: Better off than 8 years ago? Definitely

To date, 20 million Americans have health insurance due to the Affordable Care Act, signed into law by President Obama. We have had 74 months of consecutive job growth in the private sector — the longest period in American history, with five times as many jobs created as under former President Bush. Our unemployment rate stands at 5 percent, which is half the 10 percent rate President Obama found when he took office.

We have also seen a reduction of 55 percent on our reliance of imported oil, which has led to much cheaper gasoline for hard-working folks getting back and forth to their jobs. We have experienced a 250 percent increase in electricity generated by solar and wind energy.

I will proudly cast my vote this November for the Democratic nominee based on the facts.
