Letters: Sol Blatt Jr was credit to all of SC
I read with sadness of the passing of U.S. District Judge Sol Blatt Jr. He had been my friend and mentor, as he was to many others, since I was 17. I am now engaged in my 40th year of practicing law, due in large measure to him.
Judge Blatt should be remembered as a prominent trial attorney and a distinguished judge of character, intellect and ability of the highest order. His parents instilled in him the attributes of fairness, hard work, devotion to family, friends and profession, and the willingness to help others better their lots in life.
His life was a credit not just to the legal profession but to all South Carolinians. We in South Carolina were fortunate to have him pass our way. We may never see the likes of him again.
