Letters: USC trustee got off easy for killing hawks

tdominick@thestate.com

It looks like our esteemed member of the USC Board of Trustees, Charles Williams, is going to get a small fine and a slap on the wrist for the deliberate killing of federally protected migratory birds. Magnificent raptors that suffered in his “bait pens” until he was kind enough to shoot them, or leave them for dead.

Why? So he and his good ol’ buddies could shoot farm-raised quail on his hunting plantation, without the problem of natural predators. Wow, what a sportsman.

It might be more heroic to brave the potholes and traffic to go to the local grocery and buy quail.

I hope he will be treated as he has treated animals.
