Letters: Give students option of religious classes

The Richland 2 School Board’s rejection of release time for Bible study is based on faulty logic. Released time is legal, it’s constitutional, and it does not trespass on school time. It is an elective like art or music.

I worked for many years with the released-time program in Newberry County, which provided students with an overview of the Old and New Testaments. We never experienced any of the imagined problems mentioned in the May 14 article, “Richland 2 won’t allow release time for religious classes during school day.”

Concerned parents and voters in Richland 2 should ask the school board to stop denying students the right to expand their educational opportunities.
