Letters: At what point do you drop the hyphen?
The media are castigating Donald Trump for referring to a judge as a Mexican when he was born in the United States. His parents were born in Mexico.
It makes me wonder how many generations of black people have to be born in the United States before they become Americans — without an adjective.
My wife was born in Scotland, of Scottish parents and with many generations of Scots before them. After a fairly simple ceremony, she became an American.
Our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren also are Americans.
