Letters: Attack on judge was over lineshould be final straw

AP

We have been subject to repeated statements from Donald Trump that have been offensive to women, religious groups, ethnic groups and those of us who believe in the core values that have made this country the greatest country on earth. Patriotic Republicans have tried to overlook his misogynist, racist and vulgar statements in an effort to support their party. His disgusting, ill-informed, misguided and ridiculous pronouncements about a wide variety of issues have been tolerated because he does not care about being “ politically correct” and is a Washington “outsider.”

His racist attack on a distinguished federal judge should be the last straw for even his most ardent apologists. He repeatedly called the judge a “Mexican” even though he was born in Indiana. When the judge ruled that a lawsuit against Trump University could go forward and that the records should be open to the public, Mr. Turmp attempted to bully the judiciary by claiming that a Mexican heritage disqualified the judge. Mr. Trump apparently doesn’t believe having his day in court is fair.

America does not need to be made great again, because it is already great. One of the reasons it is great is that, as a country, we have rejected racial bigotry. It is time for the remaining supporters of Mr. Trump to reject him. When you act like a racist bigot and make racist statements time after time, you are probably a racist. And no, that is not politically correct.
