Letters: Community support fuels Salvation Army day camps

On Monday, the Salvation Army of the Midlands will begin its fourth and final free summer day camp of the year. Each one-week session reaches up to 30 first- through fifth-graders with the love of Jesus Christ, healthy lunches and fun-filled activities.

Children participate in wacky writing, derby cars, water sports, frozen t-shirt, corn hole and educational, character and team building activities at our center at 3024 Farrow Road.

The Salvation Army relies on the generosity of our community to meet needs of local people. Donations allow us to provide this experience for local children at no cost.

We are proud of what we do for children, families, women and men in need, and we want the Midlands to share in that pride. Our neighbors have supported us through the years, and we have supported them. It’s truly a great relationship that is more than 100 years old and going strong.

Thank you to everyone who supports our work.
