Letters: Bathroom edict a bridge too far
Of all the craziness that has come out of Washington during the regime of President Obama, nothing compares with the bathroom edict. This is a frontal assault on the Constitution and defies common sense. Is this the kind of “change” voters had mind?
I am sick and tired of the tail wagging the dog in this country. This is a purely political move to placate 0.03 percent of the population at the expense of everyone else. It will create chaos in our schools and affect all levels of our society. To threaten to withdraw federal funds from any entity that doesn’t comply with this lunacy is pure extortion.
Congress should override this abuse of presidential authority. The education establishment and the business community should oppose it with every means at their disposal. We are a constitutional republic, not an monarchy or a banana republic ruled over by some tin-horn dictator; nor is our president a ruler, a king or a Caesar. If America stands for this, we are a nation of fools.
