Letters: What is DSS doing with all those employees?
When I read about the lawsuit settlement involving the Department of Social Services, one fact startled me: “The agency now has 4,100 children under its care and a staff of 3,995, according to DSS figures.”
Almost 4,000 staff members? What do all of these people do? I would love to know the job descriptions. One might think that priorities are not in the right place and that some jobs could be eliminated in order to add more case workers. I am hoping that someone might want to investigate. It might just shed more light on the problem and perhaps a fix.
