Letters: Christian support of Trump reeks of hypocrisy

AP

The hypocrisy of religious conservatives apparently knows no bounds and never ceases to amaze me.

Recently, Ralph Reed, the sanctimonious president of the Faith & Freedom Coalition, attempted to explain his support of Donald Trump by arguing that “God often uses imperfect people to achieve his perfect will.”

For the sake of argument, let’s imagine that Hillary Clinton, not Trump, had gratuitously insulted women, Mexicans, immigrants and people of the opposing political party.

Reed and his band of charlatans undoubtedly would have claimed that she was a tool of the devil and that God wanted her to be defeated at all costs.

Once again, an evangelical conservative has illustrated the wisdom of the Founding Fathers who argued for the strict separation of church and state.
