Letters: Gun owners, secure your weapons

Unfortunately, we continue to read and hear about police officers killed and citizens being robbed or killed by a person in the possession of a stolen firearm.

Often after the crime is committed, we discover that handguns were stolen from vehicles.

Gun owners who have had their handguns stolen from their unoccupied vehicles should realize that they have some responsibility if their firearms are used during a crime.

Firearms should never be left in an unattended vehicle with easy access. If they have to be temporarily left in the vehicle, they should be in in a locked case out of sight.
