Letters: How dads can improve kids’ lives
As a 62-year-old father with 11- and 15-year-old daughters, I’d like to share some advice on how fathers can improve their children’s lives.
Communicate with your children about critical issues such as honesty, integrity and respect. Teach them about the absurdity of conspicuous consumption — for example that owning something just to seemingly impress others carries a very high financial cost. We feel sorry for people who own things they can’t afford just to impress others.
I hope other dads will put down their cellphones, turn off the TV and be parents.
