Letters: A flower to remember our friends in France

After 9/11, a friend who lives in Paris gave me a striking red flower. It shares a special spot on my refrigerator door and is a daily reminder of my French friend. Eerily, it fell to the floor on Thursday.

On Friday, as the news of terror in Nice touched us all, I glued my flower back together, replaced it on the refrigerator and was reminded to pray all the more, for all of those we honor with our flag at half-mast. As the apostle Paul urged in Galatians 6:2: “Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”

Evil exhorts followers to strike where they are. Love exhorts followers to shine where they are.
