Letters: Worried? Reduce your cable, social media diet

MCT

The sky is not falling; yes, I know, sometimes it feels as if we have lost all control and are no longer safe. I’m sure this too will pass.

Remember 1968: assassinations, riots, cities burning and, yes, a chaotic and scary political convention. We came through it, but imagine what it would have been like if there had been social media and 24/7 cable news.

The repetitive showing of all the tragic events has greatly contributed to the current stress many of us are experiencing and consequently contributes to fear and paranoia.

Why not give ourselves a break and be more selective in viewing these traumatic events? I guarantee we will feel more in control and far less stressful.
